A Youth Club for young people with Downs Syndrome
and other Learning Difficulties
Friday Friends started out in 2001 as a Youth Club for young people with Down’s Syndrome, and was initiated by a group of parents who had children with this specific learning disability.
Friday Friends is evolving! We have recently opened our doors to young people with other learning disabilities, as we would like to pursue a more inclusive approach, and extend this excellent offer more broadly and appeal to the wider disability community.
The Club aims to develop a balance of activities for the young people to enhance their social and physical skills, enabling them to enjoy themselves in an environment where they can feel personally valued, whilst learning practical life skills. The young people of Friday Friends will have the opportunity to explore art, dance, music, games and sport, as well as an chance to attain qualifications and participate in personal development opportunities.
Friday Friends runs on Friday evenings between 7-9pm (term-time only).
